 A very famous in the USSR plant for the production of metal. 
 
On the ax there is a round imprint of the metal quality identifier according to the Brinell method. 
Very rare on axes! Held selectively for a batch of axes! 
The Brinell method is one of the main methods for determining the hardness of a material. 
Evidence of the high quality of the metal! 

Axes with such a factory stamp were produced at the ZIK plant (Zlatoust, Ural) ONLY from 1951 to 1953 (three years in a row!)
The 1952 and 1953 axes were produced at the plant to fulfill a government order for the USSR Ministry of Defense. 
This ax was part of the entrenching tool of the sapper troops of the Soviet Army, so the requirements for the quality of the metal and the ax itself were very high.
In this regard, the Brinnell test was done not only on the ax blade, but also on the butt. We can see two prints of the ball. This test has not been carried out on other axes.
