This is a vintage postcard. Black Hawk Statue at Eagles Nest Bluff in Lowden State Park one mile north of Oregon Illinois. This statue as conceived and completed by Lorado achats Taft the famous sculptor represents an idealization of the Indian American who once enjoyed the Rock River Valley as his own and left it in sorrow. The figure commonly called Black Hawk stands 48 feet in height and stands 300 feet above the bed of the Rock River.
